Sharon Snow
Neighborhood: Cylburn
Sharon Snow is a retired educator, community advocate and leader, and native Baltimorean. She is a graduate of Coppin State University with a BA in History/Political Science and a M.Ed. in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling. Sharon taught in Baltimore City Public Schools for several years; and spent the last ten years of her career as the Director of Community College of Baltimore County at the Magna Baltimore Technical Training Center in Northwest Baltimore.
Sharon grew up in the Sandtown Winchester neighborhood and for the past forty years she has been a resident of the Cylburn Community in Northwest Baltimore. She is a member of the New Psalmist Baptist Church.
She was one of the first board members of the Pimlico Community Development Authority and has also served on the Park Heights Renaissance Board. She has been President of the Cylburn Community Action Association for the past twelve years. Sharon spearheaded negotiations with LifeBridge Health/Sinai Hospital that resulted in a community partnership that is solid and beneficial. She collaborated and received funding to purchase laptops and school supplies for the students at Pimlico Elementary Middle School.
Her work with the Healthy Neighborhoods Organization resulted in many residents acquiring home improvement grants. Currently, she is a member of the Northwest Baltimore Partnership Committee and the Pimlico Redevelopment Compact Committee. She has and continues to work closely with Pimlico Elementary Middle School, the Cylburn Arboretum, and the Sankofa Children’s Museum of African Culture. She also volunteered with other non-profit organizations such as Operation Christmas Child (Samaritan’s Purse), Our Daily Bread, Embracing Next Generations, St. Vincent de Paul Headstart at Pimlico, and more.
