Wanda R. Wallace
Neighborhood: West Baltimore / Allendale
Wanda R. Wallace was born and raised in West Baltimore and has been immersed in local neighborhoods and service, serving as President and Vice-President of the Allendale Community Association Inc. for over two decades. During her tenure as President and Vice-President, she participated in securing funding for the 21st century school renovations of Mary E. Rodman Elementary School, in addition to funding for the adjacent Mary E. Rodman Recreation Center.
She has served across many city associations, including the Baltimore City Democratic State Central Committee, the Uplands Redevelopment Committee, the MTA Redline SAAC Steering Committee, the Saint Agnes Hospital Patient Experience Committee, and the Southwest Leadership Roundtable. In 2000 she worked with the community to beautify the untapped greenspace at Daisy Field Park, one of the oldest sections of the Gwynns Falls Trail. In 2006 the association sponsored its first health fair at Daisy Field Park to educate the community, and provide resources, thereby closing the disparity gap. In 2017 she commissioned a portrait restoration of the founding Principle of Mary E. Rodman Elementary School. In 2018 the association sponsored it’s first Spring Fun Festival and Community Meet and Greet.
Wanda has received multiple awards, including the Mayoral Presidential Citation, City Council Citations, and State Delegate Citation. She stands by the saying “Be the change you wish to see in the world” by Mahatma Gandhi, and “ If not you, than who? If not now, than when?” by jewish scholar Hillel.
